Del Frisco’s Restaurant – Four Story Glass Enclosed Wine Cellar Tower in Chicago

Vintage Cellars collaborated with ZipCo Wine Cellar Services on this extremely complex four story, glass enclosed, showpiece custom wine cellar at the center of Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse in Chicago, Illinois. This wine tower, literally four stories tall, acts as the design feature to be seen within the restaurant. Encased completely in glass, careful planning and special mechanical consulting was necessary to make this dramatic feature not only look great, but function perfectly year round as well.

Throughout Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, there are three other wine cellar features. Each custom wine cellar is a mix of traditional and contemporary styles of racking. Within the tower, classic all heart redwood wine racking is used with accents of modern VintageView floor to ceiling frames. The redwood racking leaves varied space for both traditional 750 ml bottles as well as larger format Magnum Bottles in single deep storage. Also included are high reveal display rows throughout, as well as quarter round Magnum Displays, and a spiral staircase between levels.

This Traditional custom wine cellar with contemporary features utilized a 38,000 BTU commercial cooling unit, and had to be oversized due to the massive size of the custom wine cellar itself.

“This Traditional custom wine cellar with contemporary features utilized a 38,000 BTU commercial cooling unit.”
